'Alawa: A Unique Mechanistic Model for Battery Diagnosis and Prognosis

Case ID: 01119

Description

The 'alawa toolbox is devoted to battery degradation diagnosis and prognosis. This battery model is constructed from electrode half cell data and enables to forecast battery degradation impact on electrode behavior. The 'alawa approach is very different from conventional models that follow electrochemical, electrical, or typical empirical frameworks.

Advantages

'Alawa overcomes many of the challenges facing battery diagnosis and prognosis. It can be performed in operando and only requires the voltage data to quantify physical evidence and correlate these with electrochemical changes. The unique mechanistic approach goes beyond conventional empirical methods, offering the possibility to communicate quantitative information of battery degradation among researchers and engineers.
